Why I Diffuse with Essential Oils – Fall Edition

Essential Oils· Joyful Home· Natural Solutions

Where I live we won’t see cooler weather for awhile yet…but that isn’t stopping me from adding wonderful scents of fall to my diffuser.

I wanted to share with you a few wonderful blends great for your diffuser but before I do I want to share with you what is diffusing and why I do it.

My Why is Reducing Toxic Load

I started diffusing many years ago as I started to do some research about my daughter’s asthma “symptoms”. I wanted to see if I could approach things on a more natural level. Reducing the toxins in the house was one of the suggestions in my “doc mom” research. This was easy enough to try so bye bye to cleaning with chemicals (I’ll approach that another time) and bye bye to plugins and scented candles.

Hello to Diffusing

Yes! I loved a great smelling house and often burned highly scented candles and had plugins full of “fragrance” all over my house. Essential oils became one our natural ways to support our body and our environment. So I ditched the plugins, wax melts and candles and started using a diffuser.

My original intent was to dispel unpleasant odors and freshen the air but quickly discovered that diffusing could create a calm atmosphere, create an uplifting atmosphere, use to increase focus during schoolwork and help us sleep at bedtime. (I love this book for refferance aff.)

How Do Essential Oil Diffusers Work?

A diffuser takes an essential oil and transforms it into a fine, microscopic mist of oil droplets, dispersing the droplets(and scent) through the air. This allows you to experience the aroma for an extended time period.

I love diffusing essential oils! Especially at this time of year, you can use cinnamon and cloves and other Christmassy smells!

I am a big fan of ‘nice smells’ – I just need to learn which ones work the best for me.
In the image, it says peppermint is good for digestion. Is that also the case iif you diffuse it and inhale it? Or does the peppermint oil need to be ingested?

    Thanks!
    Paul.
PS – Hi to the family 🙂 Miss you all.

Hey Paul – nice smells make me happy! Peppermint is good for digestive support. I would dilute in a little fractionated coconut oil and rub topically where needed. Can also ingest but make sure your oil has a supplement label indicating it is okay for digestion. I know doTERRA has that but many store brands do not.

PS – Hi!! So much time has passed! Miss you too.

Martha! Those are must have oils. I can only diffuse lavender at night. It is my “make my brain go shhhh” oil. Just smelling it from the bottle can make me sleepy!

Sounds pleasant and much better than artificial smells. Pleasant way to cover up litter box odors, etc. It’s definitely something to think about.

Alice – As I have reduced the toxic load in my own home, when I am around the artificial smells now it literally gives me a headache! Litter box orders neutralizing for the win!
