Kids Make Some Noise!
Kids love to feel part of the New Year’s Celebration. At our house it was always the one night we got to make a room look like a mess with confetti and streamers! You can easily make your own Homemade New Year’s party supplies. Here are a few suggestions:
Paper Bag Noisemaker – Take paper lunch sacks and have your children decorate them, place some cut up confetti (cut up bits of leftover wrapping paper, construction paper or even newspaper), blow a little air in the bag, scrunch a bit down from the top and tie it off tightly with ribbon. At midnight simply holding the tied end with one hand smacking the bottom of the bag with the other. Pop and all the paper flies out. Mess = fun!
Soda Can Noise Maker – Take an empty soda can and add some rice or small stones. Tape the top securely (I like duct or electrical tape for this one). Cut squares of tissue paper or wrapping paper. With a small paint brush, brush the can with glue and then add the paper, overlapping in a college of colors. When dried….shake, shake, shake! (Hint: An easier design for little fingers—stickers!)
Stomp Your Feet – With some bubble wrap underneath! This is a non-craft do it yourself noisemaker. You can get a box of bubble wrap and the store. Give each child their own piece and voila–instant noisemaker. (Come on…you know you like to pop the bubble yourself!)
Happy News Years! Enjoy!
