I was looking up ideas for fondue for my daughter’s birthday party and found this article and I just had to share it. What a wonderful way to make your meal special for your family – fondue night!
KID FRIENDLY FONDUE NIGHT
I love to pull out my fondue pots and enjoy a wonderful meal with family and friends. We haven’t had a good fondue meal for a while so I think we are overdue for one. This fondue meal I want to be kid friendly so no gourmet cheese sauces or spicy dips. I have had a lot of fun making adult fondue dinners too.
There are several ways that you can fondue.
1. Make the whole meal fondue – meat in oil, dippers for cheese, dippers for chocolate dessert ——— serve with big salad, baked potato or rice pilaf
2. Make your main meat course and serve with cheese pot – dippers and chocolate pot – dippers
3. Just have chocolate pot with dippers for dessert
4. Just have cheese pot or pizza fondue with dippers for appetizers.
As you can see there are many ways to have a good fondue party.
My favorite way is to have guests over and do the whole enchilada – “the whole fondue party”. We had a ball on New Years Eve doing this with some very close friends. We had some adult beverages and the kids had sparkling apple cider.
Here is a list of fondue Ideas — Please do not feel the need to make all of these ideas.
I usually choose 2-3 pots, and a mini crock-pot for Dessert. Here are just a few ideas to choose from and I will give lots of ideas to use for dippers. (Choose your favorites to dip)
I am going to make the following Pots for fondue
Pizza Fondue, Cheese Fondue, Chocolate Fondue and a Pot of Peanut Oil
Use fondue pots – metal pots work best for oil to cook meat, mini crock – pots, little dippers, etc. I find that I like to use the little dippers/ mini crocks to keep the cheese and chocolates from getting to hot.
Relish tray – serve with ranch dip or your favorite dip
Vegetables that work well, – cucumber slices, baby carrots, green pepper strips, sweet red pepper strips, Broccoli, .cauliflower, celery sticks
Salad – assorted dressings
Fresh washed torn up lettuce, tomatoes , cheese and let your guests add more toppings from the other vegetables already cut up for dipping.
Pizza Dippers – I really just like to serve with French bread cubes cut up the day before and left out to dry out
Cheese Dippers–
Frozen Pretzels – bake before guests arrive and cut into pieces for dipping
French bread cut and cubed the day before leave out to dry out after cut / or cut up bagels

Cooking your meat (make sure chicken and pork are cooked well)

Pizza Fondue – this is one of my favorites from college
1 medium onion chopped 1/2 lb ground beef 7 slices turkey pepperoni – chopped fine
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans prepared pizza sauce 2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 1/2 teaspoons fennel seed 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
10 ounces cheddar cheese grated 1 cup mozzarella cheess
Brown the chopped onion and beef together; drain grease off.
Add remaining ingredients and cook until cheese is melted.
Place in fondue pot and serve with cubes of French bread.
Chocolate Fondue Sauce
1 c. semi-sweet chocolatechips 1 c. miniature marshmallows 1/4 c. milk
Combine ingredients in 4-cup measure or small bowl.
Microwave at High 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 minutes or until mixture comesto full boil and is thick and smooth, stirring well everyminute. If sauce is too thick, stir in more milk. Serve warm.Makes about 1 cup.
SIMPLE CHEESE FONDUE
Velveeta cheese Milk
Place desired amount of Velveeta cheese in a pan or skillet, add 1/2 cup milk.
Stir mixture constantly untilcheese begins to melt, and then add small amounts of milk untildesired thickness. When cheese has melted, keep mixture warm
(add salsa if everyone in your party likes salsa) — or a dash of hot sauce
I hope you enjoy this sampling of some of the fondue I have made. I have made a lot of other good sauces and had wonderful fondue meals. Enjoy.
I would change the oil used to cooking in chicken broth, because that is the option I choose if I went to The Melting Pot restaurant. Also try white chocolate chips in the chocolate fondue–yummy.
Enjoy
