I know what you are thinking.
Do I even need to store cookies?
If you are anything like me, I know around my house cookies don’t last very long. Probably because I bake in seasons and it is a special treat when I do.
I store cookies when I’m baking ahead for time management, for a party, for gifts for others or a cookie exchange (cookie swap).
Because doing cookies ahead of time is just what we need to do sometimes to save our sanity, I wanted to share a few quick tips today about storing cookies.
Cookie Storage Tip One
Make sure you thoroughly cool cookies before storing them to prevent them from become soggy. I know how busy we are but patience is good here. I recommend stacking cooling racks. In case you don’t know what those are, I found some on amazon.
Cookie Storage Tip Two
Store cookies in air-tight containers such as tins, cookie jars with tight-fitting lids or zipper-type bags. For delicate or frosted cookies, use a wide container and put parchment paper between the layers. Actually putting wax paper or parchment paper in between all cookies is a good practice for storing your cookies.
Cookie Storage Tip Three
Separate the hard and soft cookies and cookies with different flavors. If you store them together, the soft cookies will cause the crisp ones to go limp, and the flavors often mix.
Happy baking!

Great tips, especially with all the Christmas baking that will be happening soon!
I’d add a fourth…to store them before you’ve had a chance to eat them! Cookies often don’t last long in my house. 😉
